LÖWCHEN, the little lion dog, belong to the barbichons together with Bichon Frisé, Bichon Havanais, Bichon Bolognese, Coton de Tulear and Maltese. The clipping is not new, it has followed the breed since the beginning. The origin country is France. Löwchen was in The Guiness' book of Records 1969 as the most rare breed on earth. Today there is living Löwchen in almost every part of the earth. The number in Sweden is about 300.

The Swedish Löwchen Circle was established 1983. The club members get a paper three times a year and an annual magazine.
Every year there is a Club Show judged by a specialist. This year it's Janet Perret-Green, France thats judging.
We also have cc-shows. Year 2000 SLC started with one CC-show in Gothenburg in January (Andrew Brace, England) and the 11th of June we will have one in Vänersborg. (Ann-Marie Haugsten-Hansen, Norway).
When you pay the member fee you also join the swedish toy club (Svenska Dvärghundsklubben, SDHK) This mean f.e that you also can go on their shows.
