Ancient DNA and whisky

My professional life is all about DNA from prehistoric remains. In the section about ancient DNA I will try to describe my view on ancient DNA, it´s present status and also what we are up to at the moment in the DNA corner of the Archaeological Reserach Laboratory.

DNA is not everything. When I am not working, I am nursing my whisky collection. I have been interested in single malt whisky for more than one and a half decade now, and I believe that this interest has left me with some knowledge in the field. In the whisky section I will try to present news and rumors about what is going on with the distilleries on the other side of the North sea.

DNA and whisky may be important parts of my life, but I will aslo devote a section to myself. I am always looking for something interesting to do. At the moment I have several commitments. However, I am never too busy to accept an interesting offer. This section is in all essential a short CV.

I will also take the chance to pay a tribute to Juluka. Those of you who were around in the eighties may remember the South African band that mixed traditional Zulu musik and pop music to an African styel of etno pop a decade before bands like The Waterboys, The Rainmakers and Gypsy kings became world famous. Their way of telling the story of a classic battle where a British company got beaten by a Zulu regiment in "Impi" is just excelent.
