After pulling out a massive lead in the championship, Lauda will not be able to participate in the penultimate round. This opens the door for Prost who is currently on a roll after acclimatising with the gin pillars.
FIS predicts a charge from Prost as well as a bitter fight for third in the championship between Andretti and Fittipaldi.
The event will be jointly hosted by Wilson/Surtees. Perhaps they may come up with a few surprises on home ground.
The track is likely to be laid out in W/S apartment. Hence a short and relatively twisty cirquit is to be expected.
New equipment
Prost will enter recently acquired and heavily modified MB CLK GTR, Warsteiner for the first time.
Fittipaldi will have five working (!) cars for the first time as he returns with de-hibernated and completely rebuilt Ferrari F310B.

Emerson Fittipaldi held off strong challenges from Mario Andretti, and in the later stages, Alain Prost to win the race at Kungsbacka. The fast-lap machine quickly pulled out a points advantage from his rivals, a gap that would provide him with a crucial cushion over Prost for the rest of the afternoon.
Alain Prost pushed hard all afternoon and passed Mario Andretti in the closing stages of the race. Prosts podium finish could still give him the runner up position in the championship. The Porsche Schübel proved competitive all day as did his Ninco rubber, with Prost taking the challenge to Fittipaldi, taking second fastest race time, crossing the line just six seconds behind Emerson.
To underline the extent in which Emerson Fittipaldi dominated the event though, his point's tally was enough to let him do a fruitless attempt at humiliating De Cesaris by nobly driving the 306 rally car against the Warsteiner GT Porsche.
Mario Andretti opted to run an aggressive Porsche 908 strategy, but sadly it did not give him the pace he had hoped for and he had to settle for third place in the race ahead of John Surtees.
John Surtees chased De Cesaris to record fourth position after a difficult afternoon. Surtees looked set to claim a podium finish after demolishing Prosts Audi R8R, until an error while battling with Andretti proved too costly. Surtees had a good run on Andretti as they approached the Parabolica at half distance, but while trying to gain the position, Surtees failed to make the corner, cutting across the livingroom floor, effectively putting him out of the podium battle. Still, Surtees fought back, but was visibly unhappy with just a few FIS World Championship points. All in all, a tough day for the host.
Newcomer Andrea De Cesaris, who has previously competed in the ERF Championship, finished strongly in his maiden FIS GP after some spectacular runs in the Warsteiner Porsche. He pushed hard and drove with talent to finish in the points at Kungsbacka, the first race of his rookie season. Andrea was thrilled to finish his first FIS Grand Prix in Kungsbacka this afternoon and said he had gained significantly from the experience of top level motorsport. De Cesaris, who is filling in for Niki Lauda, qualified within 107% and kept a level head in the race to finish in fifth position.
