The history of Gameland    - as it was

This is the history about Gameland, a company that was started in May 1992 in Malmoe. It was driven for two years and it became the biggest chain of TV-games in the south of Sweden. The one who started and led the company was me, Joachim Ekstroem, it was also me who made this homepage (in case of any disagreements). I was dealing with new and used TV-games and it went on very good. In June 1993 I was reported to the police by Bergsala, who is the Swedish agent for Nintendo TV-games, and later also by Brio, who is the agent for Sega TV-games. The reason why they did this is that they believe they have the copyright of these games even when they are used. They built their arguments on a copyright law that is never tried in a Swedish court of law. This led to that Gameland became a precedent case. In June 94 I sold Gameland and went to India. After this the company was active for one more year. But the question if it is legal to buy and sell used TV-games in Sweden is still not solved. The case is now at the Highest court in Stockholm.

Lets go back to May 1992 in Malmoe, Sweden.       WB01343_.gif (599 bytes)
