Those of you who want to get the latest news about David Beckham or the Galaxy should not try this website. At least the usa bit hasn´t been updated for - quite a long time. And since last the club has (a few months ago) even signed a Swedish player who´s played for the national team since 2004. Wilhelmsson perhaps most famous for being sent home from the Sweden camp in september 2006 after ignoring a curfew for a night on the town while at the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign in Gothenburg. It wasn´t just him but also Olof Mellberg whose birtday they were celebrating, and also Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Haven´t  read the latest Beckham reveal-it-all- book,  but apparently  some people are frustrated and/or in a big hurry  -  to make money.  One thing is obvious:  you can´t please everybody.  Also the most obvious proof of being a success  is that people envy  you -  and have funny ways of showing it too.

The only human being capable of making an instant  miracle converting the whole of the US into soccer fans is probably - Oprah Winfrey.  The thing is why is everyone in such a hurry?  According to scientists the big meteorite (the big rock from outer space) isn´t expected to hit the earth until 2029 so what´s the rush?  FIFA  World Cup next year?  The flu?  Eh?

After more than five months in Europe with AC Milan David Beckham shortly returns to LA Galaxy.  The first game will be on July 16th in New York against New York Red Bulls.  And according to the LA Galaxy web site,  Champions League winners FC Barcelona will turn up in LA for a pre-season game on August 1st.

The new agreement between AC Milan and the LA Galaxy was confirmed last Sunday and of course there are individuals who don´t  jump for joy over this. But many people seem to have forgotten a few things like for instance when David Beckham arrived in LA in July  2007 he was no longer the England captain.
After England´s World Cup failure in Germany in 2006 the media situation made it impossible not to fire the manager and so more or less the captain as well. Today everybody agrees that it was a mistake to act so fast. In short  from  June 2006  until October 2007 (when  England were struggling to qualify for the Euro2008) Beckham was shut out of the nationalteam. Today everybody knows that England need Beckham to win big games.
People also seem to have forgotten that from day one at the LA Galaxy Beckham said in various interviews that he wanted to represent his country meaning playing for England and to work his way back to the national team. When celebrating winning  La Liga with Real Madrid in June 2007 he wrapped himself in the England flag. Beckham has been playing with open cards all along.  By now nobody should be surprised that Beckham tries to do what it  takes to reach his goals. One of them (when it comes to playing for England) is to, next summer in South Africa, become the first England player to play in four FIFA World Cup tournaments. (The FIFA World Cup is played every four years)

The new season starts in a couple of weeks time in the US and when it comes to solving David Beckham´s difficult dilemma: US and / or Europe there´s finally some light in the tunnel. Of course this wouldn´t have been such a HUGE problem if it had concerned somebody other than football´s/soccer´s biggest role-model and icon . A win-win situation is now within reach. According to British media today the agreement is to be confirmed by both parties (AC Milan and the LA Galaxy) later today or during the weekend.

The new season starts today against the Colorado Rapids at Dick´s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado. The first home game is next Thursday, April 3rd when San Jose Earthquakes pay a visit to the Home Depot Center.
The new LA Galaxy head coach is former Holland international Ruud Gullit by the way.

The season for the LA Galaxy is over after failing to reach the play offs BUT there will soon be another chance to watch David Beckham play for the Galaxay. In order to raise funds for the victims of the California wildfires there will be a charity match on Nov 4th at the Home Depot Center when the Galaxy
will face Hollywood United.
Beckham and U.S. international Landon Donovan are expected to represent the Galaxy while the Hollywood line-up will feature Lalas and former World Cup players Frank Leboeuf of France and Richard Gough of Scotland.

To solve the "mystery" about why David Beckham is now playing in the MLS in the US and not in some European club here´s some interesting "evidence" from the summer of 2004.
In an article in the Guardian on July 20  2004 written by someone called Dave Hannigan in New York, you could read this:
A few weeks ago the United States international Landon Donovan was doing a
live telephone interview with ESPN when the excited presenter gushed that
David Beckham was quoted as saying he would like to play in the States.
Donovan, the best player in Major League Soccer, responded with the sort
of tired "really?" that suggested he, unlike the journalist, knew this did
not quite mean the England captain was ready to leave Real Madrid at once
to link up with the former Chelsea striker John Spencer at the Colorado
      Rapids.
The article mainly deals with the quality of American socccer but also the fact that Celtic and Chelsea were preparing for the ChampionsWorld tournament taking place in Seattle. The LA Galaxy also gets a mention in this three year old article. So nothing new under the sun eh?

The world has gone crazy again. The world´s most famous football/soccer player David Beckham has moved to the US and American media expects him to do miracles in an instant. The world of soccer is not like the stock market. Soccer is about drama and excitement about blood sweat and tears and glory. It´s more of a life style than a day at the circus...and it´s very easy to get emotionally involved.
The problem now is that the presidental election isn´t until next year and so the big news is and will be for a long time David Beckham playing for the LA Galaxy. It´s a massive thing. A historical thing.  And the media are restless. They always are. It´s their job.

Tomorow July 21st is the big day for the world of football when David Beckham makes his debut for the LA Galaxy against Chelsea FC. By doing so he also takes the first steps to LIBERATE the US FROM baseball,
American football, icehockey and basketball. At last one might say.

(2007-07-13)
The world will come to a halt today Friday 13th when David Beckham will be introduced to the LA Galaxy fans at their home ground Home Depot Center and a press conference will take place. Nearby Jose Mourinho and his team are preparing for the LA Galaxy - Chelsea FC game next week.
